June 15 is Global Wind Day.  To celebrate, the Canadian Wind Energy Association (CanWEA) is working with a large German wind energy company called Enercon to view the turbines up close.   There will be tours provided of a wind turbine manufacturing plant in Beamsville.

The Hamilton Association for Renewable Energy and Environment Hamilton are organizing a trip to this open house so that we can learn more about wind energy technology.

The open house will be taking place on June 15 from 1-5 pm at 4672 Bartlett Rd South in Beamsville.

The following link will take you to a PDF poster for the event.

We are planning to arrive in Beamsville before 3pm.

Travel By Carpool:

We are organizing carpools to the event.  If you are able to provide a car or if you need a ride please contact dryel@environmenthamilton.org or call 905 549 0900 and ask for Dante.  The carpool participants are planning to meet in the parking lot across from the Environment Hamilton office which is located at 22 Wilson St (the Sonic Unyon building).  In specific, the parking lot we are meeting at is for the strip mall containing the Japanese restaurant August 8th.  We are planning to meet at 2pm and we should be back in Hamilton by 5:30.

Travel By Bicycle:

Also, for the avid cyclists out there we are organizing a bike ride to the event as well.  The bike trip from Hamilton to Beamsville takes roughly two hours each way.  If you are comfortable and confident joining the biking group contact Dante at dryel@environmenthamilton.org or call 905 549 0900.  We are planning to leave at 12:30 pm (***we’ve changed the departure time to 11:30 am***) from outside the Sonic Unyon building at 22 Wilson St.  Please make sure to notify Dante that you are planning to join the cycling group because the cycling aspect of the trip is weather dependent and we may have to contact you if the bike trip is going to be cancelled due to bad weather.
