At the two public meetings in October of 2012, members from HARE (Hamilton Association for Renewable Energy) and GECO (Green Energy Co-operative of Ontario) provided attendees with overviews of their respective organizations and how we fit together.
For those who were not able to make the first meeting, the second will be held on Tuesday, October 23rd at 7pm at the Central Library on York Blvd in Hamilton.
If you are unable to make either meeting, or attended the meetings and would like to review the slides used during the presentations, we have included them here.
The first presentation was given by Patti Turnbull, and included a brief history of HARE – who we are and what we are setting out to achieve. She spoke about the community-centred values of the effort, and how success of HARE will not only depend on community support, but how that success will bring benefits back to the area.
She spoke of our challenges, and how we are overcoming them through a partnership with the Green Energy Co-operative of Ontario (GECO). Before handing the stage back, she spoke of the modest investment and benefits of a HARE membership.

Kevin Epp of GECO provided the second presentation. His presentation was quite in-depth, providing an overview of GECO, delving into the long history of success with over twenty megawatts of installed solar projects between the groups behind it, including specifics about projects installed and underway.
Kevin then gave a high-level explanation of the FIT 2.0 (Feed-In Tariff) program and how that fits perfectly into the partnership between GECO and HARE. He concluded with a way-forward projection and explained the financial opportunity.
